Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions are important to us.

1. What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Client-Centered Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more. Our therapists are eclectic and will tailor the approach to meet your specific needs.

2. How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by filling out the appointment request form on our website. Our therapists will reach out to confirm your appointment and provide any additional information you may need.

3. What can I expect during my first session?

During your first session, your therapist will conduct an initial assessment to understand your needs, concerns, and goals. This session is an opportunity for you to ask questions, discuss what brings you to therapy, and begin developing a treatment plan that works for you.

4. How long does each therapy session last?

Typically, individual therapy sessions last about 50 minutes. However, session length may vary depending on the type of therapy and the specific needs of the client. Couples or family sessions may run longer, usually around 60-90 minutes.

5. What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment may incur a cancellation fee. This policy helps us maintain availability for all our clients.

6. Is therapy confidential?

Yes, all sessions are confidential. We adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality guidelines in accordance with state and federal laws, including HIPAA. The only exceptions are situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law (e.g., mandatory reporting of abuse).

7. How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on the individual and the nature of the issues being addressed. Some clients may need only a few sessions to achieve their goals, while others may benefit from ongoing therapy. Your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that suits your needs.

8. What age groups are your focus?

We work with clients of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Our therapists have specialized training to address the unique needs of each age group.

9. Do you offer teletherapy sessions?

Yes, we offer teletherapy (online therapy) sessions for clients who prefer or require remote access to therapy. These sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform and offer the same level of care as in-person sessions.

10. How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone looking to improve their mental health, cope with stress, work through challenges, or enhance personal growth. If you're unsure, we encourage you to schedule a consultation to discuss your concerns and determine if therapy is a good fit for you.

Modalities
What approaches or modalities do you use?

Highly individualized care means meeting each client where they are. To do this, we pull from a variety of evidence-based approaches. Below is a list of some of our most commonly adopted modalities:

Attachment Theory

Attachment Theory provides a foundation for understanding how early relationships with caregivers shape our patterns of relating to others in adulthood. By exploring these attachment styles, we help clients gain insight into their interpersonal dynamics and work toward building healthier, more secure relationships.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) encourages the acceptance of life experiences as they come, without evaluating or trying to change them. It's a skill developed through mindfulness exercises that help to harness a new and more compassionate relationship with difficult experiences.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) emphasizes the importance of emotional awareness and expression. The client is guided in identifying, processing, and transforming their emotions, enabling them to move through emotional blockages and achieve deeper healing.

Client-Centered Therapy

Client-Centered Therapy focuses on creating a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and supportive environment. By fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, we encourage clients to explore their thoughts and feelings openly, empowering them to find their own solutions and paths to growth.

Object Relations

Object Relations theory believes that early experiences with significant others influence current behavior and relationships. Together, we work to uncover and reinterpret those internalized objects, helping clients develop a more integrated and cohesive sense of self.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

EMDR Therapy addresses trauma and other distressing life experiences by facilitating the reprocessing of traumatic memories. EMDR helps clients reduce the emotional intensity associated with these memories, leading to greater emotional freedom and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve their emotional well-being.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of CBT designed to help people manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop coping skills through a combination of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness techniques.

Bibliotherapy

Bibliotherapy uses reading materials, such as books and articles, to help individuals understand and manage their psychological and emotional issues.
